Questions about the Hospital Foundations
Our children are our future. And if we change the health of children, we can change the health of Canada.
Our member hospitals are located across the country – Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, London, Hamilton, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Halifax and St. Johns.
Each hospital has their own rules and regulations for visitors and public spaces. You can find this information on their individual websites.
In total, Canada has 14 hospital facilities specifically for children. CCHF works with foundations across the country to support 12 of these hospitals.
The government only funds a certain dollar amount for each hospital, and they are reliant on donors like you to help them provide the best service possible to kids across the country. Your donation helps save the lives of kids.
Each children’s hospital has their own individual needs and specialities. Some hospitals desperately need
SickKids is the second-largest paediatric research hospital in the world and the biggest in Canada.
Our children’s hospitals would be thrilled to have you advocate for them! Whether you’re looking to host your own fundraiser to raise money for your local member hospital, or are hoping to make a monthly donation, there are many options for you to get involved! Learn more here.
Questions about Partnerships
We’re always looking for passionate and engaged organizations to partner with. We work with our partners to create custom fundraising campaigns that suit their needs. If you’re interested in your organization becoming a partner with CCHF, you can fill out the form here and our team will get back to you.
If you think your organization would thrive in a partnership with us, we require that the organization has existed for at least one year with revenue and corporate assets that project a positive and sustainable path.
Absolutely! A philanthropic donation from your organization can make a huge impact on our Canadians hospitals. We will still recognize your contribution as we would with a strategic partner.
Questions about our Programs
Our team runs various programs that you can join, host or participate in, including our popular gaming program ExtraLife. If you’re interested in our programs as a solo person, feel free to contact our team and we can help you get started.
We love that you’re interested in getting involved! Unfortunately, the CCHF national office doesn’t have any volunteer opportunities available. However, each individual hospital foundation has their own volunteer programs, which you can apply for on their individual websites.
Questions about CCHF
Nope. We’re a non-profit organization. 100% of the funds we receive from donors and partners are allocated directly to our hospitals. They use this money to improve their facilities, programs, research, equipment and experience.
No. We are not affiliated with the government. Neither are our individual hospital foundations, which is a large misconception. All of our hospital foundations are registered charities who run programs and fundraisers to raise funds for their hospitals.
Our member hospital foundations pay a membership fee, which allows us to have a small team that executes national partner programs.
100% of the donation you make to CCHF will be allocated to the local children’s hospital of your choice. That means your funds impact children, families and those touched by devastating illness and disease right in your neighbourhood.
Your donations fund 5 key areas at each hospital:
- Research
- Education and prevention
- Critical needs
- Special programs and services
- Equipment
Please note that all tax receipts for the Extra Life program are issued by the Canadian hospital foundation selected by each participant and is identified on the acknowledgement email you received upon making your online contribution. We ask for your patience as our foundations are working hard to get your tax receipts out as quickly as possible beginning in February. If you have received an incorrect receipt, the amount of the receipt is incorrect, or it is after April 1st, 2020 and you have not yet received your tax receipt by the identified hospital foundation, we ask you to please contact the hospital foundation directly.
In Canada, tax receipts are issued by each local hospital foundation, not through our office. If you donated to the following hospitals in 2019, you can expect to get your receipt from the hospital’s foundation by April 1st. You can find a contact listing of all of our member hospitals below:
- Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation
- BC Children’s Hospital Foundation
- CHEO Foundation
- Children’s Health Foundation
- Children’s Hospital of Manitoba Foundation
- IWK Foundation
- Janeway Children’s Hospital Foundation
- Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation
- McMaster Children’s Hospital Foundation
- Operation Enfant Soleil
- SickKids
- Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation
If your acknowledgement email does NOT have an identified hospital foundation on it, that means that the Extra Life participant that you supported is raising Mission Critical Funds, funds that support the overall success of the Extra Life program, and is not eligible for a Canadian tax receipt. Also note that due to privacy regulations, if you have made your contribution to an Extra Life participant via Facebook Fundraiser, Facebook is not legally able to share the personal information of donors with us, and therefore are not eligible for a Canadian tax receipt. If you still have further questions, please fill out the contact form so that a member of our team can follow up with you directly.
Please complete our Tax Receipt Inquiry form below with your donation information, including the donation date, corporate partner campaign or retail location where your donation was made, and specific issue that you are experiencing, so we can best assist you in a timely manner. Thank you for your patience and, more importantly, for choosing to support sick and injured children treated within Canada.
Thank you for choosing to support a Canadian member hospital foundation. Some donors are experiencing issues when submitting a donation. If you’ve received the error message, “Please verify your card number and expiration date.” Please double-check your billing address and ensure it is exactly as it is stated with your card issuer. If you are still facing issues, please contact info@childrenshospitals.ca for support from the CCHF team.
