Sun Life Financial Announces Meant2Prevent Type 2 Diabetes Program

Canada’s Children’s Hospital Foundations (CCHF) and Sun Life Financial proudly announce the launch of the Meant2Prevent program: a type 2 diabetes prevention initiative for children and youth in Canada. It was established in collaboration with 13 children’s hospitals.

The purpose of the program is to empower families, youth, and healthcare professionals across Canada with evidence-based resources and tools to promote healthy living habits and prevent paediatric type 2 diabetes.

This is accomplished through a fluid resource hub, www.meant2prevent.ca, that hosts trusted materials for healthcare professionals and families looking for information, tips and content on nutrition, physical activity, mental health, and sleep.  This website will be continuously updated with new content and resources.

A key feature of the initiative is Teen2Chef, a hands-on program that helps teenagers develop cooking and food skills and learn about nutrition and health eating. They also have an online resource called Meant2Prevent: Kitchen, which includes healthy and delicious recipes, nutrition articles, cooking tips and fun quizzes, all developed and tested by Registered Dietitians at children’s hospitals across Canada.
