Providing world-class care to children
The IWK Foundation is a champion of excellence in women’s and children’s health and medicine and works in partnership with IWK Health to support their vision of providing quality care to women, children, youth and families in the Maritime Provinces and beyond. Our donors are passionately committed to making a difference for Maritime families, contributing more than $13 million in support of the most urgent care priorities at the IWK last year. Funds raised also support the IWK’s global leadership in research and knowledge sharing, which in turn improves lives worldwide. Visit www.iwkfoundation.org for more information.

Building a health centre for the Maritimes together
Donor funding is what sets the IWK apart, makes it better and enables it to take quick action. Donating to the IWK Urgent Priority Fund gives the IWK the flexibility to use your donation when and where it is needed most. Donations to this fund are essential, transformative and impactful. They mean the IWK can meet the most immediate and urgent health care needs for our women and our children. And, they provide an investment that will enhance the patient experience at this vital and cherished Maritime health centre that you, our community, has helped build.

Did you know:
IWK Health is the largest facility in Atlantic Canada caring for patients under 21 years of age and the only Level 1 paediatric trauma centre east of Quebec. IWK Health is also one of only two health centres across Canada that cares for both women and children.
A new state-of-the-art PICU has opened
In 2020, we opened our newly renovated, completely donor funded, state-of-the-art paediatric Intensive Care Unit. With donors by our side, the IWK is transforming the way care is provided to our most critically ill and vulnerable patients. Through the redevelopment of Critical Care into state-of-the-art Neonatal and paediatric Intensive Care Units (NICU and PICU), we’re raising the funds to transform the physical space of NICU and PICU and to ensure the most advanced technology and equipment is available for our patients.
Providing better access to care through travelling clinics
At IWK, we offer unique travelling clinics where care providers can see patients at partner facilities in the Maritimes for follow-up visits. With 105 clinic days each year, these travelling clinics allow patients to receive care closer to home.
Funding life saving equipment in the emergency room
Thanks to generous contributions from donors, we can keep up with high demands for life saving equipment in our emergency room. Since we treat patients of varying ages, we need multiple pieces of equipment of different sizes. In 2020, IWK Health saw over 21,000 emergency department visits.

Meet Ben & Jiesheng
