For all our kids
As the only paediatric facility in the province, the Janeway has been providing specialized healthcare in a compassionate, supportive environment for Newfoundland and Labrador’s sick and injured kids for over 50 years. We’re continuously looking for ways to improve practices, reduce risk and increase the number of positive outcomes for our young patients.
Providing development and rehabilitation services
The Development and Rehabilitation Division at the Janeway is the only program of its kind for children throughout Newfoundland and Labrador. It provides service to children and adolescents with physical, developmental and learning disabilities.
Air transporting critically ill babies
The Janeway NICU Transport Team, comprised of registered nurses and respiratory therapists, transport critically ill babies from areas throughout Newfoundland and Labrador to the Janeway for specialized care. This expertly trained team provides stabilization and safe transfer of our most vulnerable patients, 24/7.

A new Special Care Unit opened its doors October 2019 at the Janeway Hospital. This unit is was created for our smallest surgical patients and will provide a concentrated area of care for these babies, while promoting a family-focused environment where parents can room with their infants.
Thanks to the support of donors, his year will see the final construction and opening of a new Special Care Unit at Janeway Hospital. Creating the unit for our smallest surgical patients will provide a concentrated area of care for these babies, while promoting a family-focused environment where parents can room with their infants. Being together is crucial for families when they’re at their most vulnerable.
