Gaming for Good: Inaugural Extra Life North Unites Winnipeg Gamers to Support Local Kids

The inaugural Extra Life North, hosted by the Winnipeg Extra Life Guild, took place in August and brought together passionate gamers for two days of fun, connection, and fundraising. Held at the Delta Hotel, the event showcased the heart of the Extra Life community, where players gathered not only to game but also to support the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba. Together, attendees, sponsors, and volunteers helped raise more than $2,500 to provide vital care for kids in need.

The weekend highlighted the best of the community spirit: Game Knight contributed board games, Phantom Arcade donated a classic pinball machine, and Long & McQuade kept the event sounding great. Dairy Queen (981 Portage Ave) and the Manitoba School Esports Association also stepped up as sponsors, helping to fuel the event and support the community throughout the weekend. The Winnipeg Video Game Orchestra’s Sidequest Quintet added a magical touch with a live performance that became a highlight of the weekend.

Extra Life North showcased the power of the Winnipeg Guild and the Extra Life community, setting the stage for future events that combine play with purpose.
