Making life brighter for kids and families
Sun Life Financial’s philanthropic support focuses on two key areas: health, with an emphasis on diabetes awareness, prevention, care and research initiatives through the Team Up Against Diabetes™ platform; and arts and culture, through the award-winning Making the Arts More Accessible™ program.
Their employees and advisors take great pride in volunteering over 29,000 hours each year and contribute to making life brighter for individuals and families across Canada.
Sun Life Financial also proudly celebrates the launch of their new type 2 diabetes resource initiative, Meant2Prevent: an online education tool for teenagers, families and health professionals.
Supporting community wellness
Community wellness is an important part of Sun Life’s sustainability commitment and they believe that by actively supporting the communities in which they live and work, they can help build a positive environment for their clients, employees, advisors and shareholders.
Focused on improving care for kids with diabetes
Sun Life Financial’s philanthropic support focuses on health and diabetes, with an emphasis on four pillars of support – diabetes awareness, prevention, care and research initiatives through the Team Up Against Diabetes™ platform. They are invested in improving symptom recognition, diagnosis, treatment, education and long-term outcomes.
Collaborating with hospitals to prevent type 2 diabetes in youth
Sun Life Financial has made a $2 million investment to CCHF and it’s hospital foundation members to create Sun Life Financial’s Meant2Prevent: a type 2 diabetes prevention initiative for children and youth. This includes a fluid online resource hub that hosts trusted material for healthcare professionals and families looking for information on nutrition, physical activity, mental health, and more.
A key feature of this initiative is Teen2Chef, a teen-focused food skills program that helps teenagers develop cooking and food skills and learn about nutrition and healthy eating. This program was developed and tested by Registered Dietitians at children’s hospitals across Canada.
