Their first mission in the Critical Care Redevelopment Project was to revitalize their NICU North and South—the first big step in a plan to overhaul their critical care services.
We’re proud to announce that this mission is accomplished: the IWK’s NICU now has 38 single-family rooms. These patient rooms, equipped with the latest technology, offer families privacy and comfort with a place to sleep and a private bathroom with a shower.
Now, the focus has shifted to the IWK’s Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).
They’re $4.5 million away from the amount needed for this redevelopment, and they need your help.
Nobody expects their child to end up in the IWK’s PICU. However, 50% of admissions are unplanned and hundreds of children receive life-saving care. It’s a fact that we can’t ignore.
But the current PICU is outdated, not up to date for today’s standard of care, and it lacks privacy—something people in vulnerable times need.
Are you ready to step in? They need us now more than ever. Find out how you can help here.
