Celebrating Equality + Pride
We’ve all seen the rainbow flags across the country to celebrate Pride Month. Pride goes beyond celebrating equality. It helps break barriers across all forums and paths of life, including children’s heath.
Pride Month helps shed a light on the health issues that children and teenagers in the LGBTQ+ community are more prone to experiencing, particularly mental health issues like depression, suicidal tendencies, body image issues, eating disorders, and substance abuse. This celebration helps break down stigmas and fears that our children may come across as they grow up.
For patients, their family members or hospital staff that are part of the LGBTQ+ community, our children’s hospitals are committed to ensuring that this community receives the same quality treatment they need to get back to being healthy kids. Our hospitals provide safe, positive and inclusive spaces for everyone.
Canada’s Children’s Hospital Foundations proudly supports the LGBTQ+ community and are thrilled to see our hospital foundation members celebrating equality in across the country this month.
For kids, for healthcare, for Canada.
