We've all seen the rainbow flags across the country to celebrate Pride Month. Pride goes beyond celebrating equality. It helps break barriers across all forums and paths of life, including children's heath. Pride Month helps shed a light on the health issues that children and teenagers in the LGBTQ+ community are more prone to experiencing, particularly mental health issues like depression, suicidal tendencies, body image issues, eating disorders, and substance abuse. This celebration helps break down stigmas and fears that our children may come across as they grow up.
